About Thai Golf Association of Texas (TGATX)

The Thai Golf Association of Texas (TGATX) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the Thai community across Texas through the game of golf. Founded on the principles of unity, cultural pride, and community engagement, TGATX brings together Thai and Thai-American golfers of all ages and skill levels to foster meaningful relationships both on and off the course.

What began as a platform for camaraderie among golfers has evolved into a purpose-driven organization committed to giving back—supporting youth development, promoting healthy lifestyles for seniors, and creating opportunities that extend far beyond the game.

Our Mission

To enrich the lives of the Thai community in Texas by using golf as a platform, with a primary commitment to supporting youth development, followed by senior engagement, and extended through broader community and charitable initiatives.

We accomplish this by:

• Prioritizing educational opportunities and scholarship support for juniors and students

• Promoting active, healthy lifestyles and social connection for seniors

• Building lifelong connections and strengthening cultural unity within the Thai community

• Giving back through charitable initiatives and meaningful community service

• Junior Development
  
  TGATX is committed to investing in the next generation. Through initiatives such as our Birdies for Kids Scholarship Charity, mentorship opportunities, and youth tournament participation, we aim to inspire discipline, leadership, and academic achievement among our junior members.
  
  The Birdies for Kids Scholarship Charity serves as a cornerstone of our development mission, transforming on-course performance into meaningful educational support. Funds raised through tournament play, member contributions, and community sponsorships are directed toward scholarships that assist students in pursuing higher education. Notably, this program is not limited to junior golfers—it is open to any graduating high school senior whose family members are part of the TGATX community, reinforcing our commitment to supporting families as a whole.
  
  Beyond financial assistance, the program promotes the values of integrity, perseverance, and community engagement, ensuring that recipients are recognized not only for their academic ambitions but also for their character and connection to TGATX. Through these combined efforts, TGATX continues to build a strong foundation for youth and family-centered development, empowering the next generation to succeed both on and off the golf course.

• Senior Engagement
  
  We honor and support our senior community by creating welcoming spaces for social connection, recreational golf, and wellness-focused activities. TGATX believes in lifelong participation in the game and the importance of maintaining strong community ties at every stage of life.
  
  To ensure accessibility and inclusion, TGATX also coordinates transportation support—such as shuttle arrangements and carpooling—for seniors who may be unable to drive or travel long distances. This allows them to continue participating in golf, social gatherings, and community events. By reducing these barriers, we help promote active lifestyles, social engagement, and overall well-being, ensuring our senior members remain connected and valued within the TGATX community.

Our Structure & Community

TGATX is organized into two primary regions:

• North Texas – Dallas / Fort Worth

• South Texas – Houston, Austin, San Antonio

Each region hosts local tournaments and events, allowing members to represent their communities while fostering friendly competition and regional pride.

Throughout the year, TGATX organizes a series of tournaments, including regional competitions and signature gatherings such as our Annual Memorial Day Tournament. These events serve not only as competitive outlets but as celebrations of unity, friendship, and shared heritage.
